The Tremendous Value of Deciding to Commit

The Tremendous Value of Deciding to Commit

Since I made the decision to lose weight and become a better version of myself, I committed to working with Andrei. Andrei taught me a lot about healthy foods, and habits, and even some stuff business.

Andrei discovered a systematic way to lose weight and to change habits and introduce new habits into my life to eat healthily.

If you remember from one of my previous posts, I was sitting in Tony Robbins’ Seminar, and he told us “Decisions Shape Your Destiny”. It was indeed true.

So I had the desire to have a healthy body for myself, to be fit, to be an active person to my kids. But I was indecisive about going all-in.

Many-a-times, we know what to do, but we don’t do it because we are stuck in indecision. While a dream kick-started my achievement, I wasn’t able to move forward without the decision to work with a mentor and going all-in committed.

When I made the decision that I should lose weight, I did. In fact, over a year I lost over 18 kilos, and I was more energetic, healthy, and I felt active every single day.

+ Where do you lack commitment?
+ What decision is still pending in your life that you are fearful of?
+ What decision have you have been procrastinating about?

The decision that if you made a commitment to today, can bring significant change to your life, business, and finances? Think about it…

What can you go all-in on? Go ahead and make that decision now!

A Little Hand-Holding to Overcome Obstacles

In my last article in this series, I mentioned how I transformed my body from weighing 126 kilos to 105 kilos effectively.

I got help from a coach from Romania named Andrei. Andrei helped me change my behaviour and my eating habits. And the good thing is that I didn’t put back the weight like before. I was able to sustain the weight loss.

After working with Andrei for over a year, I had more energy, I felt more active; I felt awesome in general with my new found energy.

It was only possible because of Andrei. Before Andrei, I was trying all the tactics to lose weight without much strategizing on the core problem which is my habits.

Back then I used to have one can of coke (at least) a day. And my favorite food used to be a McDonald’s DOUBLE McSpicy Chicken Burger or the DOUBLE Quarter Pounder Burger with a LARGE Coke (32oz). So basically I had a 1566 kilo-calorie meal every time I went to McDonald‘s and that was almost every single day!

By working with Andrei (who used to be fat and then lost over 24 kilos through proper eating habits and exercise), I shortcut my way.

Because I didn’t have to make all the mistakes that Andrei had done. I didn’t have to experiment with stuff. I didn’t have to waste time.

Andrei gave me the exact strategies (change of habits) and tools that work and all I had to do is follow his instructions. It went great. I just trusted him blindly. It was a hell lot of patience, and work, but it DID work!

Coaches and mentors would be critical in helping you achieve great things. That doesn‘t mean that you have to spend 100s or 1000s of dollars to get coaches and mentors.

Coaching or mentorship could come in different forms: Books, Courses, 1-on-1 coaching, and Group Coaching.

Depending on how big the problem is and how deep your pocket is (how much money you can afford to spend), you can choose the right option. The more the money you spend, the more the level of support you get.

Action Step: Think what your goals are. Search Google or Amazon for a related book on your primary goal in life at the moment and start reading it now. It’s either cheap, or it’s completely free.

From Depression to Super Effective & Happy

From Depression to Super Effective & Happy

“Ask, and ye shall receive; Seek, and ye shall find; Knock, and the way shall open to you.” – Paraphrased Wisdom From The Bible

Every successful person owes their success to one or many mentors. Bill Gates said himself that he owes much of his success to his mentor Warren Buffett.

Overweight is a problem which will need to get addressed through two things (Eating & Exercising). And many people don’t understand that.

I didn’t understand that as well. I went all in and tried different workouts and different diets. Nothing worked. Sometimes I lost weight, but only to put them all back and sometimes put more than what I lost.

This is going back to the tactics vs strategies that we discussed in my previous article.

What could have helped me is to get a mentor to guide me along the journey of weight loss. Someone who has been there and done that or someone who has done research studies, or someone who learned this in school.

These people are experts in what you want to accomplish and as they have already been there and done that. You shortcut your way to success. I found mine as well. I helped me transform my body from weighing 126 kilos to 105 kilos effectively. And the good thing is that I didn’t put back the weight like before.

Do You Know The Sure-Fire Way to Fail?

Back when I was overweight and unfit, I asked a friend how to lose weight?

He said, go for a run every day. Or hit the gym three times a week. MWF (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

I got excited, and I went and joined the gym. And you know what happened next?

I didn‘t hit the gym for the next 12 months. 12 months later I was more unfit. I had increased in weight and lost all my self-esteem.

Why did all this happen?

In general, we end up following these “tactics” to lose weight or to achieve anything, But not plan it properly. In other words, we don‘t take a step back and see things from a bird‘s eye view.

A famous saying says that a ship without a destination goes nowhere.

So, even though you do all those crunches, and the sit-ups one or two days, if you don‘t have a strategic plan; and or not following the plan it‘s a sure fire way to fail.

Following tactics will give us a sense of accomplishment. (“Yes! I’ve taken one step” says your brain)

Research shows that when people buy something that is going to solve their problems, there is an instant release of dopamine. (Dopamine is a chemical that gets released in our body, and our brain instantly feels a sense of accomplishment if that happens.)

But? Unless you have moved forward towards the goal, you haven’t achieved anything. In fact, your brain is faking your feelings with instant gratification.

Failure happens because of not strategizing the solution to the problem at hand. If you just follow tactics (e.g., hitting the gym) without a plan and a way to track the progress you aren‘t going to move forward swiftly and efficiently.

So when you need to achieve anything in life or solve any problem, take a step back and strategize the solution before you solve it. Come up with a plan and think things through holistically from a bird’s eye view (a rough sketch, a mind map, an outline).

The Wolf of Wall Street About Goals

The Wolf of Wall Street About Goals

So, I was at The Wolf of Wall Street seminar in Singapore by the Wolf himself – Jordan Belfort. There were several things I learned from him. If there was one thing I took away, it‘s his advice about taking action relentlessly.

In his words: Eagles take action. Ducks just sit there and think about things. Eagles play offense, whereas ducks play Defence. – Jordan Belfort

At this point, I had goals, short-term, long-term, and lifetime goals. But I was a dreamer just like most people. I dreamt of a better life, a better financial situation, better health. But I only kept imagining, and dreaming doesn’t mean achieving.

Without action, the best intentions in the world are nothing more than that: intentions – Jordan Belfort

I realized the importance of taking action and how taking action is the only way I can move forward. I was a dreamer but not an action taker. I decided to take immediate action.

So, I immediately went ahead and did a couple of things which were of high priority for me. I got a Jawbone UP which is supposed to help me lose weight by tracking my progress; I finished reading “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, I even wrote my first book. It felt so fabulous to have taken those actions by the end of 2015.

I was playing the classic case of the following tactics vs. strategies. Strategies are like trees. They stand in the long term. Tactics are like bubbles, and they burst after a while. We’ll speak about the differences in the next couple of blogs. Stay tuned.

Decisions Shape Your Destiny

Decisions Shape Your Destiny

Before I attended the Tony Robbins seminar in May 2015, six months back I read “Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill”. Mr. Hill mentions in the book “Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”

After I had finished reading the book, I created goals – one-year goals, five-year goals, ten-year goals, and lifetime goals. And I started developing a strong desire to achieve these goals. Or in other words, I dreamed about my goals.

Now, this is when I was at one of the lowest points in my life. My startup failed after many attempts; I was fat like a pig (I weighed 127 kilos, that’s 280 pounds), I hated to look myself in the mirror, I hated to go to conferences and meet people.

I couldn’t spend time with my family; I was depressed wanted to change my life.

I was sitting in Tony Robbins’ seminar, and he mentioned: “Decisions shape your destiny”. It’s true, coz many times we dream about things and certain decisions that we need to take to move towards the goals we don’t make them.

It could be because of various fears, or procrastination. But, I took Tony’s word, and I made a couple of decisions that day. These decisions changed my life entirely. I lost weight, increased my salary, and built a consulting company and made over $100,000 in sales while still at my day job.

So, here’s an exercise for you today: What are the decisions that you have been thinking about for a long time and haven‘t decided yet? Make the decision YES or NO today. Don’t be undecided.

Hit “comment” and let me know what you decided.
